The Local Business Center, is a free tool that enables business owners to control the content of their business listings as they appear in Google Search and Google Maps. Now in order to that, all you require is claim your listing in the LBC and go through a quick verification process.

New Features for Google Local Business Center

• Impressions: Signifies the number of times the business listing appeared as a result on a Google.com search or Google Maps search in a given period.


• Actions: The number of times people interacted with the listing; for example, the number of times they clicked through to the business' website or requested driving directions to the business.

Google launches Google Squared

Google launched "Google Squared" yesterday i.e., on 3rd Jun 09.

Google squared takes the search query and tries to present the result in the tabular form, just like a spread sheet does.

Google Squared is very configurable; a visitor can add and delete rows and/or columns, and sometimes replace data that Squared puts in your results.

This is an experimental search tool that collects facts from the web and presents them in an organized collection, in squares, similar to a spreadsheet.

The following shows the squared results when I have performed the search for the query - planets.

Google Squared builds squares with rows for each of several specific planets and columns for corresponding facts, such as image, description, orbital period, equatorial surface gravity and mean density.

Furthermore you can add/delete the columns based on the specific information you are looking for. As you delete rows/columns you don't like Google Squared will get a fresh idea of what you're interested in and suggest new rows and columns to add.

Page Rank Sculpting

Many great articles are already been written in this context, but I just want to share my views about this concept of Page Rank Sculpting.

What is Page Rank Sculpting?
PageRank Sculpting in simple terms is the way to parse the link juice to the other pages of the website. As in 2007, when PageRank Sculpting became popular, Google laid down the guidelines as to how to save the page rank for the inner / deeper pages of the website, and how to use it effectively for the website.

To go in details, say for example if your website has 5 - pages, and the page rank for your website is X, then the parsing of the page rank for the inner pages will be X/5, i.e., please see the below figure for more detail.

How to use Page Rank Sculpting?
In order to save the Page Rank so that the important pages on the website could get more share of it, search engines devised Rel=nofollow attribute which can be inserted in the HTML of any link and can hence stop the spider from crawling that link. So, as such it gave webmasters the ability to modify PageRank flow at the link-level granularity.

In a website there are pages link "Privacy Policy", "SignUp", "Register", "My Store" etc are some of the few pages which does not require the share of the link juice and hence page rank can be saved for the other important pages of the website.
