Google launched another feature to it's web search results - Website Preview. Now Google is offering the thumbnail view for the websites showing up in the search results.
In order to see the thumbnail option, you need to click on "show options" and select "page previews". Now do a Google search for your query, you will be able to see a longer snippet and a thumbnail for each search result.
A thumbnail for a website is not bad, as they make the search result looks a bit attractive, but it's not helpful either. Another thing what I observed (see second image) was, the thumbnails for all the sites are not loaded instantly (as you can see in the image).
All in all a good technique to create a more lively page.
